Majority of buildings date back to 16C, some of them were reconstructed. The street connects the old and new town. • 1,7 km long street was formed in the 19C. Laisvės alėja (Liberty Boulevard) connecting the old and new parts of the town is intended solely for pedestrians. The beginning and end of the Liberty Boulevard show the precise directions of the east and the west. • Vytautas The Great Bridge, 1948, architect L. Kazarinskis. Art objects and monuments • Vytautas the Great Monument, sculptor V. Grybas • Liberty Monument. Sculptor Juozas Zikaras It is a symbol of Lithuanian sovereignty.
